Savage Beauty . . .

So as this year is quickly drawing to a close, it is only getting closer to 2015 which is bringing one of the most highly anticipated exhibitions to the V&A. Yes of course it is Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty retrospective. I personally cannot wait. As I have mentioned before I am a huge Alexander McQueen fan and have been since his early days. An incredible talent he along with designer Vivienne Westwood inspired me to study fashion design at University and his legacy continues to inspire me.

McQueen has so many memorable collections and pieces that it is so hard to put them all together but the Farfetch team have managed to do it! In this infographic they have managed to put together fashion illustrations depicting some of his most memorable shows in chronological order, which really shows McQueen's fashion evolution throughout his too short a career.

My personal favourite was the show that he put together with milliner Philip Treacy in memory of their dear friend Isabella Blow, who sadly died shortly before McQueen himself. This show was all the more memorable as it was planned and constructed with love for their dear departed friend. Showing McQueen's Spring / Summer 2008 collection named 'La Dame Bleue'. If you listen closely you can hear that Isabella Blow talking on the track. It is my favourite as it paired two of the most talented craftsmen together and boy was it a show to remember!

What is your favourite McQueen Moment?

The exhibition opens on March 14th 2015 and closes on July 19th 2015, but is already the talk of the town and it is still months away!
I've recently bought my tickets and would recommend you doing so too, as boy oh boy are they selling out quickly, there are currently no weekend tickets available online for the month of March.

You don't want to miss out on this one I can promise you that!

Wednesday Icon . . .

I know it has been a while since I shared a Wednesday Icon with you but this one is worth the wait!
Today I have chosen a woman who has been named the most famous living artist right now. The force of nature that is Yayoi Kusama.

Now this woman is extraordinary! I am a huge fan of her work and of her. Yayoi Kusama is a painter, film maker, sculptor, entrepreneur, fashion designer, ect, the list really does go on! Before you sits a women who put herself into a mental institution because she feared what she would do to herself, a woman who lived in a flat in New York with no heating so all she could do to keep herself warm was to paint manically till she could paint no more, I'm talking days without sleep and not much food. Her work is all about self-obliteration, she covers everything she sees in dots to return it to its natural state. Her dots have made her famous, in the 60's she used to cover bodies in dots at raves, which soon turned into orgies, and used to have naked demonstrations around New York.

Her work is sold for billions and the price is only going up for this artist. She had a huge exhibition on at the Tate Modern a couple of years ago which brought her work to the attention of new generations.

She has also collaborated with fashion house Louis Vuitton, and appeared in Selfridges windows all over the world. Celebrities were also desperate to wear her pieces and Mr George Clooney also grazed the front cover of W Magazine in one of her suits.

If you are interested in this fascinating women I would recommend the autobiography Infinity Net, click here to be taken to the Tate shop to see the book. I have not been able to put it down, if you want to learn more about this woman please have a read there are too many interesting facts to write all in this one post.

I hope she inspires you all to research more into her life, a truly fascinating talent, one I am sure the world will never see again.

Jumpsuits . . .

While online shopping recently I've noticed there is a vast variety of black strapless jumpsuits.
Now more recently jumpsuits have become a wardrobe staple for all of us ladies and of course a black jumpsuit is more flattering for all kinds of body shapes. If however like me you haven't bought one yet now is the time, with so many interesting ones available we would be silly not too!
So here are my top 5 strapless jumpsuits for you to pine over . . .

For Individual Prices Click Here
Starting with number 1, we have this wonderful ruched bandeau jumpsuit, I think this is a classy number, and I really like the detail of the waist bow too. I think this might be my personal favourite, this one is priced at £27.99 by New Look.
Number 2 we have this rather glam sequinned number, perfect for any parties this Christmas or New Year. Now this one is from Lipsy so is a little bit more expensive at £70 but think of it as an investment piece, as i mentioned before these flattering jumpsuits will be one of your most used wardrobe staples.
Number 3 we have a jumpsuit with pleated details on the tapered cut trousers. With hidden support panels this piece does help hold you assets in place which is always a good thing we want no accidents on the dance floor! Now this jumpsuit is priced at £30 so again quite reasonable for a quality piece.
At number 4 we have this rather special plunge front jumpsuit with a heavily embellished bodice.
Now there are not very many of these left so if you like it step on it before it goes, now this is the most expensive at £98 but so worth it, a very elegant, yet party ready piece.
Finally number 5 a jumpsuit with a tailored corset top, and finished with wide leg tailored trousers. This is another great number as unlike others I have seen it does offer you a wide trouser, which can help accentuate you curves, and give you the appearance of an hour glass.

Which is your favourite?

Coats, Coats, Coats

So I finally managed to go coat shopping today and found an absolute beauty!
I have seen a great selection of coats around on the high street at the moment so I will show you a few of my favourites in this post, and also show you my lovely coat!

Starting of course with a fur number, unless you have been hiding in your bed for the last couple of weeks you would have not noticed the massive amount of fur coats, in various styles and dare I say colours! How fabulous is this faux fur ombre effect coat!!

I think this coat is edgy and also very glamorous, an easy piece to wear day to night.
Moving on we have another coat from M&S, I have featured it before but after seeing it and trying it on it remains one of my favourite coats around this season.

Now this coat does come in a large range of colours but this one, as well as the bright yellow version is my favourite, imagine this coat over a nice black fine knit jumper and leather skinny trousers, perfect!
Now this next coat has been in the press a lot recently and it is a leopard print faux fur coat by none other than Florence and Fred by Tesco!

This coat looks so warm and cosy doesn't it!
As far as I am aware this coat keeps selling out as soon as more stock is brought into stores, so if you love this coat make sure you snap one up online before they are all gone!

Next this great black coat from River Island, I love the fur details on this collar, I also like that it is only on the top of the collar. I think this will be on my Christmas list this year. A great coat that can be thrown on for any occasion.

Finally my new coat!

I love this long biker style jacket, with zip details on the pockets and on the front for fastening. This coat is figure hugging, yes I know in the image above it does not look like it but trust me it is! Personally I will not be using the waist tie to fasten the coat but instead tying it behind my back helping to keep the fitted shape even when the coat is open.

What coat are you wearing this Winter?

Sunday Splurge . . .

So it's Sunday and boy oh boy do I have a great Christmas Party Dress for you today,
what's better than that I hear you say, well I have a Splurge and a Save version of this product too!
Without further ado here is this weeks Splurge . . .

For Product Info Click Here

So how fabulous is this dress, especially for all the festive parties coming up this season!
This dress has a low V back which adds a cheeky touch I think considering the front of the dress isn't so revealing. I really like that this dress is a bit more demure for a sequinned dress, as more recently they all seem a bit cheap. This dress although my splurge is still only retailing at £40 which isn't too bad really is it for such a great dress. It also has a hidden zip that finishes at the point of the V on the back of the dress, which is a great design feature as it allows for perfect fit bit also allows you to manoeuvre yourself into this body con dress, as remember although it is a body con there is no give in the fabric making it more difficult to shimmy in.

Onto my Save version . . .

For Product Info Click Here
Now considering these dresses are from the same high street shop, yes it is my favourite H&M, they are similar and yet both so reasonably priced the save dress is only £9.99 yes how great is that! Though I would mention that this dress unlike the other does not have a zip to help you get in so is a bit more fiddly to get into, I am a size 10-12 and I was finding that I was having to try and wiggle a size 16 over me just so I could get into, So I would recommend you try this one on before buying it.

What will you be wearing this festive season?
