London Fashion Week Day 1

Yes it has finally come around again, it is our turn to showcase some of our AMAZING talent. From the first day (14th Feb) my favourite designer collections shown were from Ethologie by Jasper Garvida, Felder Felder and Central Saint Martins MA. Below I will show my top 4 looks from each of the designers. Starting with Ethologie's Autumn / Winter collection . . .

Now Jasper Garvida's vision for Ethologie is breathtaking, the prints, colours, textured fabrics and added embroidery details just jump out at you, even from off the page. The bright colours and stunning mix of digital prints and styles bring these almost 60's inspired designs into the 2000's. I would love to wear them all, or at least add them to my collection. The trousers, dresses and coats all fitted, and tailored with a slight flair being added to the bottom of the dresses and coats, were all paired with the colour sandals. Love them all!

In the Felder Felder show it was clear that there was a sheer panel theme in all of their outfits, I love how even though it is a very subtle detail it really does break up the looks and give it a little lift. The coats in both white and moss green are stunning, I love the looseness of them, also paired with the thin trousers and shirt its a very laid back classy look. Effortless dressing at its best. The print and colour tones used by the design duo on a variety of textured fabrics like quilting, wool, mohair and heavily embellished fabric really makes this collection stand out. Grunge - rebellion at its most stylish.

Anita Hirlekar, Nayuko Yamamoto, Serena Gill, Ondrej Adamek
This MA collection from Central Saint Martins had some amazing new talent, showcased in one amazing show. My top four outfits come from four different designers. Starting from the left of the above picture, the first designer that caught my eye was textiles student Anita Hirlekar whose vibrant collection, made from brightly coloured yarn and mesh really stands out for its 3D appeal. I love this more subtle number in monochrome it really is rather striking. The next designer is Nayuko Yamamoto whose surreal metallic tent like creations where rather extraordinary and stood out from the rest. I love the mesh like print featured on elements of the collection, adding some much needed colour into the designs. Knitwear designer Serena Gill paired beaded mohair knits with futuristic perspex skirts. This mismatch of textures works exceptionally and really modernises what we have come to see from knitwear designer. Ondrej Adamek received acclaim for his collection. These occasionally vision obstructing big 3D shapes were used by the designer in various positions of the body, on rather simple shaped dresses really made an impact. Made of bonded silk these luxurious dresses really packed a punch!
What was your favourite collection from Day 1 of London Fashion Week?
